'Ethel Rosenberg's brother's testimony is unsealed more than 50 years after she and her husband were executed for Cold War spying and reveals Ethel may have been WRONGLY convicted Read more: http://w'

The brother of Ethel Rosenberg, who was a star witness against his sister and brother-in-law in a sensational Cold War atomic spying case, minimized his dealings with his sister during an earlier appearance before a grand jury and said that they had never discussed her role 'at all,' according to court records unsealed on Wednesday. The revelation may heighten public suspicion that Ethel Rosenberg was wrongly convicted and executed in an espionage case that captivated the country at the height of the McCarthy-era frenzy about Communist allegiances. Rosenberg and her husband Julius were put to death in 1953 after being convicted of conspiring to steal secrets about the atomic bomb for the Soviet Union, though they maintained their innocence to the very end. A: Yes Q: Where did this take place? A: Well I don't know exactly where it took place. Q: In Manhattan? A: In Manhattan; It was in Manhattan Q: What was said at the time? A: Well, he said that he'd rather I didn't. Well, he said, 'you can leave the Army,' he said, 'but I'd rather you stayed there to work.' I said, 'I'd rather come home.' 'Well,' he says, 'come home but go back. In other words take a little vacation and then go back. Q: Was he insistent about it? A: Yes, he was. Q: Did he give you a reason why you should go back to the Army? A: He wanted me to continue giving him information. Q: Did he say that? A: yes. Q: Did you talk the matter over with your wife? Did you? A: Yes. And we came to the conclusion that we did not want to stay there. We wanted to come home. Q: Did Ethel also try to persuade you to stay in the Army? A federal judge in New York, responding to requests from a group of historians and archivists, ordered the 46-page transcript unsealed following Greenglass's death last year at age 92. Greenglass, who was indicted as a co-conspirator and was himself sentenced to 10 years in prison, said at trial that he had given the Rosenbergs research data that he had obtained while working as an Army machinist at the Los Alamos, New Mexico headquarters of the top-secret Manhattan Project to build the atomic bomb. He said he saw his older sister transcribing the information on a portable typewriter at the Rosenbergs' New York apartment in 1945. He was then asked whether his sister, Ethel, was similarly insistent about his Army career. 'Tarnishing of the teenage idols even mums and dads approved of: They were Cowell's squeaky clean supergroup. But is a shock pregnancy the final nail in One Direction's coffin? Read more: http://www.d'

he list of boy-band casualties is a long one — and the members of One Direction have been through more than most. Living in the crucible of intense fame, on the relentless treadmill of record-release-promote-tour, the British band’s young stars contend with a schedule that includes making films, releasing everything from perfumes to duvet covers, and being scrutinised on social media day and night. And now it seems — after selling more than 50 million records worldwide and earning £27 million each — that the reckoning is coming. For all five original One Direction members appear to be engaged in a very modern decline and fall. Since the band was put together on The X Factor in 2010, there have been scandals involving drugs, tattoos, women and online spats. Now we learn one of the group, Louis Tomlinson, has — via a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it fling — inadvertently impregnated a 23-year-old stylist called Briana Jungwirth. Scroll down for video 2010: Baby-faced hopefuls. Fresh faced: (from left) Liam, Niall, Harry, Louis, and Zayne on the X Factor +6 2010: Baby-faced hopefuls. Fresh faced: (from left) Liam, Niall, Harry, Louis, and Zayne on the X Factor The pair, who enjoyed a couple of dates after Louis split from his long-term girlfriend Eleanor Calder, were no longer an item when she discovered she was expecting. The news has been greeted with horror by the band’s global fanbase and seems likely to hasten the end of their shelf life as squeaky-clean idols for tweens and teens. Bookmakers William Hill have halved the odds that One Direction announce they are splitting before the end of 2015 to just 3/1. It is widely rumoured that after they finish their current tour and release and promote their fifth album they will take ‘a break’ rather than embark on another tour. This plan has been interpreted as the beginning of the end, although record label Sony deny that 2015 will be the band’s final year. It is undeniable, though, that things are falling apart. Earlier this year Zayn Malik left the band amid acrimony and accusations of drug use. Harry Styles, the heart-throb who resembles a young Mick Jagger, is said to be planning a similar exit — to try his hand in films. Yes, five years after the boys set off to audition for The X Factor — the talent show from which they emerged as instant chart-toppers — fame has wrought many changes. So how far have they fallen? 33 tattoos and a baby on the way When an 18-year-old Louis Tomlinson auditioned for The X Factor, he was still at school in Doncaster. Like the rest of the band, he had hoped to make it as a solo performer, but was put into a group with the other four by music mogul Simon Cowell. This week Louis’s mother Johanna, a midwife, posted a message online about how, on July 10, 2010: ‘My boy left his home with a packed lunch & a dream. Five years on & still the same boy & still my best friend.’ Fling that left girl pregnant: Louis Tomlinson during his brief fling with Briana Jungwirth +6 Fling that left girl pregnant: Louis Tomlinson during his brief fling with Briana Jungwirth Louis Tomlinson on night out with Briana Jungwirth in May Louis, 23, doesn’t look much like the same boy, though. Hollow-eyed and with skin that appears greying beneath the stage make-up, he sports no fewer than 33 tattoos including the gloomy slogan ‘It is what it is’ across his chest. He wasn’t able to sustain his romance with girlfriend Eleanor Calder, whom he dated for four years. Louis said he was determined to make it work. ‘If your heart’s in it, then you’re not gonna mess about,’ he explained. However, they split in March, with a friend commenting: ‘It was just impossible, he’s away for nine months a year.’ After a couple of nights out with Briana Jungwirth, Louis had moved on to date another girl when Briana discovered she was pregnant. He is now said to be supporting her and planning to be present at all her ante-natal scans as well as the birth next year. ‘It was a surprise at first, but he and Briana are very close friends and this has brought them even closer,’ a source told People magazine. They will not, though, be trying to make a go of it as a couple. 'The poignant reason the Queen refuses to have any more corgis: American cowboy who advises Monarch reveals how her own mortality is behind the decision Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art'

The red-letter day has been in the diary for months, if not years, a date which represents such an extraordinary milestone in our island story. On September 9, the Queen becomes the longest-reigning monarch in British history, the day on which she breaks the record held for more than a century by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria. But while the nation may hope to mark this singular achievement, it is not a day of celebration at Buckingham Palace, which feels it would be unseemly to the memory of Victoria. Scroll down for video Corgi and Bess: A young Princess Elizabeth with one of her first ever corgis. Since 1945 she has had over 30 as pets +5 Corgi and Bess: A young Princess Elizabeth with one of her first ever corgis. Since 1945 she has had over 30 as pets For the Queen the summer of 2015 has held other, more personal memories. The arrival of her childhood pet corgi, Susan, all those summers ago, and, poignantly, the 12th anniversary this month of the last litter of House of Windsor corgi puppies. Since 1945, the Queen has had 30 corgis, a good proportion of them direct descendants of Susan, from whom the then Princess Elizabeth was inseparable. In 1947, hidden under blankets in the royal carriage, Susan was whisked away with the newlywed Elizabeth as she left with Prince Philip for their honeymoon. The following year, when the Princess gave birth to her first baby, Charles, newspaper columns were full of advice on how Elizabeth could prevent Susan from becoming jealous of the infant prince. It marked the beginning of a new royal dynasty. At one stage there were said to be 13 corgis — memorably described by Princess Diana as a ‘moving carpet’ — lolling in the Queen’s private sitting room and nipping the heels of footmen, prime ministers, ladies-in-waiting and diplomats. Every few years, a fresh litter arrived and older dogs passed on. But the Queen’s current corgis, Holly and Willow, now entering the doggie twilight world, will be the last in the line, together with her pair of dorgis — corgi-dachshund crosses Candy and Vulcan. It emerged six years ago that the Queen had stopped breeding Pembroke Welsh corgis. Courtiers said that she worried about lively young dogs around her feet and the danger she might trip over one and hurt herself. But what was not clear was that she also no longer wanted any new four-legged companions to replace those that died. 'Hearse arrives at Bobbi Kristina's hospice hours after mysterious tent was erected by the back door Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3163291/Hearse-arrives-Bobbi-Kristina-s-hospice-'

A hearse on Wednesday was seen backing into a tent that was mysteriously erected outside the Atlanta-area hospice center where Bobbi Kristina Brown has been treated for the last three weeks. The hearse showed up soon after the tent appeared at the back door of Peachtree Christian Hospice and after Brown's loved ones including aunt and guardian Pat Houston arrived to the center outside Atlanta. Photos show the black vehicle backing into the unexplained tent, which blocked views from all angles of what was inside. The 22-year-old's family did not comment on her condition as the photos emerged Wednesday, nor would Peachtree Christian reveal the reasons behind erecting the tent. The end? Bobby Brown's brother Tommy also arrived for a visit Wednesday along with other Houston and Brown family members. The tent appeared at the back door of the Georgia hospice center where Bobbi Kristina was taken June 24 in order to 'die naturally' in the afternoon. It stands to reason that officials had the structure placed behind Peachtree Christian Hospice to block anyone from seeing anything coming or going through the door. And the Houston family has kept largely mum on Bobbi Kristina's condition since her aunt and guardian Pat Houston said 'she's in God's hands' after she was transferred to the end of life facility. The tent was flush against the back of the hospice center and blocks the door from all angles. As TMZ notes, the family was prepared to let Bobbi Kristina go after doctors had given them no hope of her recovery. 'Despite the great medical care at numerous facilities, Bobbi Kristina Brown's condition has continued to deteriorate,' read a family statement from June. 'As of today, she has been moved into hospice care.' Brown was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her Atlanta area home January 31. She underwent surgery to replace her breathing tube with a tracheostomy tube in February. Bobbi Kristina was originally placed into a medically induced coma after the horrific discovery in circumstances eerily reminiscent of her mother's death. Her death was ruled accidental. However, police are treating Bobbi Kristina's near-drowning and alleged injuries as a criminal investigation - with speculation mounting that Gordon will face charge. Meanwhile, the Houstons are looking for justice through a civil suit. A court-appointed representative of Bobbi Kristina Brown has filed a lawsuit against her partner Nick Gordon claiming he took money from her and abused her physically and emotionally. Bedilia Hargrove filed a lawsuit against Gordon in Fulton County Superior Court. The complaint says Gordon routinely transferred large amounts of money from Brown's accounts to his without Brown's permission.
